What is ASIA COAT 2007? This exhibition is a paint & coating and building materials show, which is held every year in Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou and is organized by the China National Coatings Industry Association (CNCIA) and the National Paint & Coatings Industry Information Center (NPCIIC). This year's exhibition was held in Beijing from July 4th to 6th and 150 companies from a range of Asian and European countries as well as the US were in attendance. |

This exhibition also offered the opportunity to hold a seminar in the building located in the exhibition halls site.
As I already mentioned, this year’s organizers were the CNCIA and NPCIIC and a number of their members also belong to the Changzhou Paint & Coatings Industry Research Institute (CPCIRI), the National Quality Supervision Testing Center for Paint, and the National Technical Committee of Paint and Pigment for Standardization. Some of the above members are also members of China’s ISO committee. |

We were advised by a number of the above to join this exhibition and to hold a technical seminar as well. Dr. Tanaka and I attended this exhibition and we decided to exhibit the RPT-3000W (Rigid-Body Pendulum type Physical Properties Testing Instrument) and asked A&D H/K and its Tianjin office to bring the MX moisture analyzer and SV viscometer along because those two analyzers are indispensable devices for us in explaining the testing principles and features of the RPT-3000W.

The RPT-3000W is a highly accurate instrument for the analysis of curing behavior from a liquid to a solid state and for the practical evaluation of physical properties. This means that the instrument is designed to measure both viscoelastic physical properties during the curing process and surface layer physical properties of various materials using the Free Dumping Oscillation Method (FDOM). The point is that generally speaking, coating materials such as paints, adhesives, etc. are coated on substrates, such as iron, wood, plastics, etc, as a liquid and are cured by various forms of energy including time, heat, light and so on.
So how can we evaluate the solidification method of coating materials on substrates and how can we discuss the problems caused by the wetability of these coating materials and the evaporation of some solvents?
Mr. Tanaka held a seminar on the morning of July 5th and suggested a solution to these problems.
As for our booth in the exhibition hall, two staff members, Mr. Wang Lu, Tianjin Office Manager and Ms. Tsui Yan (Caelian), a system engineer from A&D Guangzhou's Tianjin office were meeting and greeting visitors and explaining how our instruments, such as the viscometer (SV-10), moisture analyzer (MX-50) and the RPT-3000W, operate. I would like to thank Mr. Wang and Ms. Tsui for their kind cooperation and for coming all the way from Tianjin with the SV and MX. I believe they received a number of interesting inquiries and I anticipate that their SV and MX sales will increase in the near future.

The exhibition itself is limited to paint and coating materials and we observed that visitors were most interested in unique and useful instruments. Numerous paint and coating manufacturers were very excited to see the advantages of our products and were really impressed with their fast and accurate measurement capabilities.
Lastly, the RPT-3000W (Rigid-Body Pendulum type Physical Properties Testing Instrument) attracted the attention of numerous visitors to this show and will soon be recognized in China and other countries.
