17th European Meeting on Hypertension　A&D

	17th European Meeting on Hypertension June 15-19, 2007 in Milan, Italy Reported by Shinji Kawabe, International Division


	A&D attended the exhibition section of the 17th Scientific Meeting of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH). http://www.eshonline.org/ The content of this ESH Meeting involved a broad range of clinical and experimental research with numerous State-of-the-Art Lectures, Oral and Poster Sessions with original research, Plenary Sessions, Debates, Teaching Sessions, Breakfast Workshops, Integrated Sessions for ESH Working Groups and Satellite Symposia. This year, a total of 6,625 delegate doctors, mainly from Europe with about 500 visiting from outside Europe, participated in the meeting.



	The highlights of our booth were the UM-101A (Portable type) and UM-101B (Mobile stand type)!! A&D's revolutionary product, the UM-101 Mercury-Free Sphygmomanometer, captured the spotlight and was widely praised by the delegate doctors. Each doctor that visited our booth was interested in our UM-101, and many of them used the device themselves and they commented on the fact that the UM-101 is not only an alternative to the mercury column with regards to environmental issues, but it also has added functions such as an angle adjustable display column, pulse rate measurement, mark button and compact portability. Furthermore, they are aware of problems with accuracy due to the slow response of mercury, as with time the filter in the glass tube can become clogged, and neither filters or mercury are used in the UM-101.



	At the Poster Session at the ESH Meeting, Dr. G. Stergiou (opinion leader of the Greek and European Hypertension Society) released a report titled "Validation of the A&D UM-101 Professional Device for Office BP Measurement According to the International Protocol", which states that the UM-101 has comfortably passed all validation requirements of International Protocol, and would be on press for Blood Pressure Monitoring 2007.

	Other highlights included A&D's brand new upper arm BPM UA-854 and UA-855 which were displayed for the first time. Our UA-85X series now has 5 models: the UA-854's new function is room temperature, and the UA-855 displays measurement results with AM/PM TimeWise TM Tracking Technology for two people on a histogram chart. Everyone was very impressed by the elegant and stylish design of the UA-85X series and endorsed our concept of "Don't put it away, leave it on a table or shelf to enhance the interior of your home, and so that it will be much easier to measure your blood pressure every day or even twice a day for your healthcare".



	We also displayed our TM2655P Fully Automatic Digital Blood Pressure Monitor with printer (BHS validated), which also attracted hundreds of visitors to our booth. Our telemedicine products (UA-767PBT/PC, UC-321PBT), were connected onsite to an Internet service called MOREPRESS, which is managed by a customer of our Italian dealer, for remote home blood pressure monitoring.

	After the main sessions were over, the exhibition hall filled with doctors.



	This was a really successful and significant exhibition for us and we realized the importance of further participation in this kind of Hypertension Society Congress. Next year HYPERTENSION Berlin 2008 will be a joint congress incorporating the 18th Scientific Meeting of ESH and the 22nd Scientific Meeting of the International Society of Hypertension and it will be held from June 14th to 19th 2008. I hope that next year, other European agents will also join this exhibition and we can work together there as an A&D team.
