MEDICA 2006

This year's largest global medical fair, MEDICA 2006, was held from November 15th to 18th in Düsseldorf, Germany. This year, A&D was again located at the same booth (11D78). 4,250 companies from 63 countries attended the fair, and there were approximately 137,500 visitors in attendance at this year's (MEDICA's 38th) show. The fair is consistently growing each year in proportion to advancements in the medical industry, and we had the opportunity to cultivate new sales leads from 74 different countries and expand our global medical business.

Highlight of our booth, the UA-85X Series!!
We have just recently launched our new elegant UA-85X Series, which includes three separate models: the UA-851, UA-852 and UA-853. Nearly everyone who passed by our booth stopped to check that this series was really a blood pressure monitor series. Its elegant design means that this model can be placed in any area of any room providing for easier and more frequent blood pressure measurement. The concept is "don't put it away, leave it on a table or shelf and it blends in easily with the surroundings." The UA-853 is equipped with AM/PM TimeWise TM Tracking Technology memory recall, which automatically categorizes morning (AM) and afternoon (PM) measurements and can average AM, PM and daily measurements.

Another highlight was our innovative UM-101 Mercury-Free Sphygmomanometer with a mobile stand. Last year we launched our UM-101, and it caused great excitement among medical professionals. We have responded to requests from our portable UM-101 users that a mobile stand type would also be very useful so we developed and launched this new model onto the market.

MEDICA also confirmed its role as a trendsetter in the field of medical information and communication technology. 420 exhibitors offered different product ranges in this area and over 38,000 trade visitors were interested in the telemedicine technology displayed there. We introduced our Telemedicine products including 2 models equipped with Bluetooth Class 1, the UA-767PBT and UC-321PBT. We also performed a demonstration of a transmission from an A&D Bluetooth Device by connecting via a Bluetooth USB Dongle PC. We received a number of enquiries from system integrators and are now even more determined than ever to extend our development and maintain our leading position in this field. During the 4-day show, A&D held a dinner party to introduce our new International Division general manager, Mr. Masaru Shibuya, to A&D dealers in attendance. Over 50 people joined the party and we all had a great time together drinking and singing karaoke. The next MEDICA will be held from November 14th to 17th 2007 and I am already looking forward to seeing everyone that I met at MEDICA 2006 again. See you then in Düsseldorf!!
