A&D has announced that they have reached an agreement to collaborate with IAV Berlin, which is a leading automobile development consulting company, for the purpose of providing a wide range of services in order to develop top-of-the-range test benches.
The two companies intend to mutually develop auto-calibration software, which will be capable of operating under a wide range of conditions and will become an invaluable tool for engine development worldwide.
The first step in this collaboration will take place in November with A&D’s launch of ORION, an auto-calibration system that incorporates IAV’s know-how. IAV will open an office in Japan by the end of this year to begin its consultancy business.
IAV has developed a unique software solution for the control of powertrain test benches called MPI2. ORION is a new updated version of MPI2 including open system architecture and additional functions. In addition to steady state functionality, transient state functionality will be added next year, which will be a very effective tool in reducing transient calibration time. Open system architecture also enables ORION to be used with test benches from other manufacturers. We estimate that ORION will cost about ¥10 million.
IAV is currently collaborating with a large number of US & European automobile manufacturers as an engine development consultant. By collaborating with A&D, IAV hopes to establish valuable business relationships with automobile manufacturers in Japan. |
A&D, which provides test bench hardware & software intends to develop new software with IAV and create new business channels in collaboration with IAV.
IAV's consultancy business will initially involve 5 to 10 engineering staff transferred from overseas and A&D will provide IAV with a suitable working environment in an area of their third test bench plant which is due to be completed by the end of this year. |
