We are very proud to be a permanent major player in the medical device area. And the season for the largest medical show in the world, MEDICA 2005, has arrived. You probably know about this exhibition if you are in the medical business, but I would like to update you just a little about its history and scale.
MEDICA began in 1968 and was developed to cover various sectors of the medical industry. New technology and new devices were usually introduced at this exhibition. It has always been held at the Messe Dusseldorf in Germany but through the years it has attracted numerous exhibitors and visitors from various other countries. The number of visitors and exhibitors has been steadily increasing and last year, over 136,000 visitors from all over the world visited over 3,600 exhibitors during a 4-day period.
As a leading developer and manufacturer of medical monitoring devices, A&D is always evolving and improving and we like to reflect this at the MEDICA show. This year is no exception!
We plan to launch a new and innovative monitor for professional use but as the details of this unit are still confidential, unfortunately we cannot share its features with you yet. However, we are sure that you will be very surprised and extremely impressed when you see it at our booth.
A hint about this new model follows:
In October 1905, exactly 100 years ago, a Russian doctor, Dr. Korotkov, introduced blood pressure monitoring at the Scientific Academy in St. Petersburg. He used the Riva-Rocci sphygmomanometer to take the blood pressure of his patients. Since then, medical professionals worldwide have supported this reliable method of blood pressure measurement. A&D is pursuing a new era in blood pressure measurement but at the same time maintaining Korotkov's century-old gold standard method.
