 The Automotive Testing Expo 2006 CHINA was held from September 6th to 8th at the Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition Center in China. This exhibition is well known throughout the world's leading automotive test equipment manufacturers and test service providers. However, this was the first time it was being held in Asia and it featured exhibits from more than 140 companies from all over the world.

The REDLINE CAS II is the latest combustion analysis system, which has added the benefit of portability to its conventional model. Therefore this product can be ideally used for both in-vehicle and test cell applications. For in-vehicle applications, clearly labeled BNC connectors are mounted to the top of the cabinet, allowing for easy connection to engine sensors. A built-in 12VCD power supply eliminates the need for special power inverters. Using an optional mounting bracket the system can be secured to the floor, or even strapped in with a seat belt. The portability of the RedLine CAS II is also useful for test cell applications where combustion analysis is shared among several test cells. A&D Technology also displayed the AD5435 Engine Full Pass RCP (rapid control prototyping) System. This demo system is a simple application in engine control. The system detects the engine crankshaft timing using a missing teeth mechanism (Variable Reluctance sensor, gear with basic teeth number of 60 and 2 missing teeth), and then controls the ignition timing, injection timing and duration, etc. based on the speed and timing information. The Graphical User Interface shows the engine speed and the instantaneous angle. The control parameters (ignition timing, fuel injection duration, etc) can be adjusted through the Virtual Console interface.

With the S-function program, which is supplied by A&D, this product is easy-to-use for hardware-in-the-loop simulation and rapid prototyping, especially for automotive ECU development.

The image below shows the AD5435 with a mini DC motor bench kit. This kit is a prototyping model for controlling a DC motor. It consists of the AD5435 controller, AD5430-18 vehicle PWM output board, DC brushless motor with resolver and other circuits on board. With this kit, it is possible to perform velocity control and electronic current control. The programming logics developed in this kit can be implemented into real automotive ECU for hybrid vehicles, electric vehicles, electric power steering and so on.

We also exhibited the AD5450 diesel engine injection kit at this Expo. This
kit enables diesel engine control as well as multistage injection and
current control to develop an ECU for a diesel engine. The AD5450 is a RPT
(Rapid ProtoTyping) platform specifically designed for in-vehicle applications.
This function makes stable operations possible with a multi-CPU structure.
Therefore its engine-angle synchronous processing and time-synchronous
processing are completely independent. This product is currently only
available in Japan.

The WFS is a wheel force sensor, which enables the measurement of 6-component forces in a wheel in real time at 0.1% resolution. The main feature is the 6-component wheel force output. The RTS is an advanced rotating shaft torque meter with wireless communication of digital data possible by employing A&D’s advanced weighing techniques in a rotating system. These techniques compensate for radial and thrust forces and offer increased torque measurement accuracy. The RTS’s Model-based Real-Time Simulation results are 10 times more accurate than conventional methods.

The AD3651 is an FFT analyzer, which can perform functions such as in-vehicle order tracking and MIMO analysis. With the in-vehicle option kit, you can use the AD3651 anywhere, such as inside a vehicle, in the field or in a lab. One of its significant features is its scalability from 4,8, to 16 channels in a single A4 size front end.
